Arthritis
90% of cats over 12 years of age suffer from arthritis, but symptoms are often very different from humans or dogs, where we might expect obvious limping or pain.
Most commonly we notice a reluctance or inability to jump. Cats rarely express their pain obviously by crying, which can make it difficult for owners to suspect the problem.
Sometimes we also see:
- Hiding
- Stiffness
- More sleep
- Lack of appetite
- Personality changes
- Decreased grooming
- Eliminating outside the litter box
- Difficulty rising from a resting position
- Reluctance or inability to jump – up or down
- Muscle loss in the back legs
If your cat is suspected of having arthritis, or is on medication for arthritis but you would like, or hope, to see better results, please get in contact, we would love to help.
