Stemcellvet UK is a team of Veterinary Surgeons and nurses dedicated to improving the lives of cats and dogs in the UK. Headed up by Veterinary Surgeon Dr Stewart Halperin MRCVS, we have been trained in stem cell technology and techniques by Dr Mike Hutchinson DVM, who has personally carried out more than 400 stem cell procedures on dogs and cats in the USA.
Dr Stewart Halperin BVMS MRCVS
Qualifying from Edinburgh University in 1992, Stewart completed an internship in small animal Medicine and Surgery at the prestigious Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Ontario, Canada. On his return to the UK, following work in referrals and emergency practices, Stewart founded the Petcare group of clinics.
Stewart was previously a Director of the London Veterinary Forum and is currently on the steering committee for Vesture. Stewart has a further qualification in arbitration that allows him to carry out expert witness work. He regularly attends continuing professional education courses, both in the UK and abroad.
In early 2012, after in house training by Dr Mike Hutchinson DVM and his Stem Cell team from the US, Stewart became the one of the first vets in the UK to carry out Adipose derived Stem Cell transplants, in a dog with osteoarthritis.
Stewart’s clinical work is now focused solely on the treatment of animals with osteoarthritis.
Stewart lives with Nicola, his daughter Honey, their dog Bear and their cats Maple and Pickles.
Kelly O’Sullivan VN
Kelly is our head stem cell Nurse and carries out all the technical aspects of the stem cell activation as well as coordinating patient’s treatments.
A qualified nurse for more than 12 years Kelly joined the PetCare Group in 2011 as head veterinary nurse. As group head technician for all stem cell therapy she is responsible for client and animal liaison and for ensuring all treatments are carried out to the highest professional standard.
Kelly has received advanced training to develop her skills; specialising in stem cell therapy in-house laboratory work.
